One of the Distinguished Gentlemen, known as the “GREENSBORO FOUR,” MONSIEUR DAVID RICHMOND, was born in Greensboro in 1941 to Mozelle and John F. Richmond. The Richmond’s resided in Greensboro, NC’s, East White Oak community and Monsieur Richmond graduated from the legendary, Dudley High School.
Three credits short of his degree, he left North Carolina A&T University also located in Greensboro, NC, where he was mastering in business administration. After leaving N.C. A&T University, Richmond worked at the legendary Cone Mills

for CETA; a federal government poverty program, an example of the many great purposes his life served.
In 1980’s the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce awarded him the Levi Coffin Award for “leadership in human rights, human relations and human resources development in Greensboro.” In 1990, at the age of 49, Richmond died of lung cancer.; The Liberty Bell of Freedom rang as, NC A&T awarded him a Posthumous Honorary Doctorate Degree that year. He is survived by two children.
